Communion Service
Communion, or The Lord’s Supper, is a sacred time of instruction, deep reflection, and humility. It is our communal remembrance of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a moment to reflect upon the gravity of His sacrifice and the grace it offers and provides. We approach the table not as a ritual to be rushed but as a holy invitation to examine our hearts and renew our faith.
When We Observe
Regular schedule: Communion is served on the first and third Sunday of each month, following the Staff Opening and before our worship through song. Special services: We also participate in Communion during Good Friday services and, when applicable, on Christmas Eve.
Why We Take Communion
Communion is both remembrance and teaching. The bread and cup point us to Christ’s body given and His blood poured out for the forgiveness of sins. As we partake, we remember His victory over death and receive the grace that flows from His resurrection. This is a time for sober reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to follow Jesus Christ.
Who Should Partake
We believe the decision to take Communion should not be taken lightly. Communion is for those who understand the gravity and grace of Christ’s work. We will not turn children away from taking Communion, but we desire that they too understand why we partake. Parents should prayerfully decide whether their child understands these truths and is ready to participate.
How to Prepare
Approach Communion with humility, confession, and thankfulness. Spend a moment in quiet reflection or prayer, confessing sin and receiving God’s forgiveness. Let the elements lead you into worship and a deeper dependence on Christ rather than a mere routine.
A Final Word
Communion is a gift from God – an opportunity to learn, to mourn and rejoice, and to be shaped by the gospel. Come prepared in heart and mind, ready to receive the grace and to remember the One who gave everything for us.
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
Isaiah 1:18
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
